request for sanitary pads

Hi Judy
Have you considered garnering resouces to launch a factory for the production of the sanitary pads right there in rural Kenya, this would guarantee you a supply that can be sustained also some of the women could be trained in the manufacture of these dressings. It could become a generator of income. Here is a foundation that does a lot of work in the area where you are seeking help. The link follows: http://www.grameenfoundation.org/where_we_work/sub_saharan_africa/
Hi Hildagirlde,
Thank you, that is part of our plan but we are a new organisation and for now we are introducing the pads to Women and once they see the comfort and the goodnes of using pads instead of what they use, then we will move into that step, Also in that rural area where we are based there is no power and we are doing a research to see if there are other ways we can manufacture sanitary pads or equipments that do not require to use power.
Hi Judy,
I believe that once you are past the introductory phase of this project you should be able to tap into the many alternative sources of energy to get your factory going. Your own Jomo Kenyatta Institute of Energy and Environmental Technology may be the best starting point, for the technical know-how, since nobody else can be relied upon to have the interest, commitment, and purity of motives to the same extent as your own people. I hope that I don't sound too cynical but observation has taught that many give five with one hand and take a thousand with the other hand!
Hi I've only just joined, so not sure if it been suggested, but with there always going to be a funding problem wouldn't it be better for them to have sewn strip cloths, to use and rinse then reuse as a more viable option, elastic round the waist and a couple of safety pins . . . . and maybe place a section of really absorbent material in between . . . a lot more cost effective . . . hygene education would be would be better use imo . . . please don't get me wrong not knocking what a great job your doing, just an idea . . .
