A non-profit organisation established in 1983 creating large scale sustainable livelihoods

    Capacity Building Series (2008- 09)

    Organisation Development-

    A programme on Managing Change

    (18-20 August 2008)

    Introduction

We are passing through an era which is unparallel in the history of mankind. Never before have a billion dreams been charged with excitement for change. People whether in rural or urban area are witnessing changes in their lives.  For the poor and those who do not have voice, the civil society has taken the mandate upon itself to ensure that they are not left out in this process of change. But is the sector prepared to address the issues that this change is likely to bring about? Newer challenges require newer approaches and perhaps innovative approach to problem solving.  Some of the challenges that we in the sector face relate to fundamental questions such as vision and mission, our identity and human resources.

Organizational Development (OD) is all about managing change. We have designed this programme with a view to address crucial issues that confront most of the social entrepreneurs and change leaders. How do we know if our organization is equipped to take on the outside world; for if we are not, then the poor have missed yet another bus in their long struggle for better lives?

    Objective

The training programme will be conducted to meet the following objectives:

    • To  identify the need for instituting Organization Development processes within their organizations,

    • To  conduct a self reflection on organization preparedness to initiate change management processes

    • Developed clarity of the term OD

    • Understood OD processes and required skills set to carry out these processes

    • Self analysis of current level of skills gaps

    • Identified critical issues that the organization faces

    • Gained conceptual level understanding of issues involved in moving beyond OD to ID - from a learning and skills development perspective.

    Pedagogy

This module has been designed as a participatory programme that would build-upon the experiential learning of participants. The pedagogy focuses on interactive group learning and aims both at knowledge development and skill upgradation through peer learning. Case Studies, readings and reflection are an important component of the programme.

    Contents

Broadly speaking the training programme on OD is a three stage process, it includes, Diagnosis, Identifying Priority areas for intervention and Developing Action Plans. The three day programme is designed accordingly and includes the following:

    • Understanding Self and Organization for facilitating diagnosis

    • Understanding the OD Process:  Managing Change

    JOIN THE CAMPAIGN

There are over 2,100 political prisoners languishing in prisons all over Burma. Free Burma's Political Prisoners Now aims to collect 888,888 signatures before 24 May 2009, the legal date that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi should be released from house arrest. This is a united global campaign working with over a hundred groups from around the globe. The petition calls on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to make it his personal priority to secure the release of all political prisoners in Burma, as the essential first step towards democracy in the country.

    HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO!

    1. Sign the Petition on http://www.fbppn.net/?page_id=5

    2. Get your friends, families, and colleagues to sign.
(Join our pages on Facebook and Youtube as well)

    3. Download the campaign kit (to the left) and get those in your community involved. Tell them about the situation in Burma and the courageous actions of Burma's political prisoners.

    4. Tell the FBPPN Campaign Committee what you are doing so that we can share with others about the global movement for Burma's political prisoners. Email info@fbppn.net

WHY THIS CAMPAIGN IS SO IMPORTANT

Daw Aung Suu Kyi says, "We are all prisoners in our own country." Political prisoners are not criminals. They have courageously spoken out on behalf of those who have been silenced. The release of all political prisoners is the essential first step towards freedom and democracy in Burma. There can be no democratic transition without them. They must be allowed to freely participate in any future democratic political process.

    Thanks N Regards,

    Aung Myo Thein

    Description:

March 21 has been declared as  International Year  for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by the U.N.

People for Harmony, the people\'s network for promoting sustainable social harmony in India is calling upon all the people of India to celebrate March 21 as NATIONAL HARMONY DAY.

The celebration of a National Harmony Day on par with other days of national importances like the Independence Day and Republic Day will bring together all those who are for peace and harmony. Thus the divisive forces of communalism will soon disappear.

Remember: March 21 is NATIONAL HARMONY DAY.

    Let us celebrate.
